Cool Climate Control...vacuum

Well have no vacuum on climate doors inside cab....and found rotted line into fire wall, but cant locate inside....any ideas here?

Remove the glove box, you'll have a little better view, if its the line that goes in next to the evap coil tubes.

yup thats the one that broke at the fire wall, will remove glove compartment and look for it....do you know if it goes all the way over to controller on dash or connects in between?

well, this is not going to be so easy a task, know where the tube thru firewall is, removed glove compartment, can't see a/c tube but know where it is, so will thread my own line from dash controller thru firewall.........

zman, I have to change the heater core in my '96 1500 next week. Do you think it would be a good idea to change the vacuum hose while I have the thing torn apart?

Always a good idea to change hard to get to parts while your there . Especially if their made of rubber .

Mine is pristine. The only problem I have with it is getting it out. My last foray into the innards of the dash took 4 hours to get to the stinkin' A/C evaporator. But I was amazed at the amount of crap that was in the heater box. I think something was in there feeding it's young.

You don't have to unless it seems brittle. Usually the plastic vac lines are bad in the engine bay, not in the interior
