Default Air Conditioning Starts and Stops

Dodge Ram air conditioning starts and stops?

I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500. The air conditioning starts and stops - driving down the road it stops blowing air and then about 10 seconds it starts blowing again. Not a problem with the cold air, it just stops blowing. Has nothing to do with accelerating - it just stops and starts.

I think that's a sign of low coolant. And apparently froen doesn't just dissipate over time, so there could be a leak.

Does the blower quit or air temp warms up?
If blower stops check the relay,if air gets warm it's the compressor cycling switch,it is mounted on the accumulator rt side by firewall

First, does the air maybe just switch from vents to floor or defrost and then back to vent? Check this first, because it means you have a bad vacuum check valve.

If the air continues to blow but gets warm then cold, and the compressor cycles on and off, then you may have a leak and low refrigerant.

When it seems to stop blowing, check to see if maybe it's just coming out from the floor vents or defrost. This is actually a common issue.
