Default Gear ratio change for 35'' tires?

Hey y'all, Ive got a 2001 Dodge ram 1500 4x4 offroad package. I know it comes with 4.10 gear ratio, but is that enough to run 35'' tires?

if not, what parts will I need to purchase and where?

Get some 4.56's. Look at yukon or randys ring and pinion

B/c there are so many stories of ppl dropping trannies when they have 4.10s and 35s....not.

It's not absolutely necessary to regear, but I'll just preface by saying it will be dependent on the demand placed by the driver.

If you're going to tow some schtuff, then yeah...I'd agree with regear. But if you're just a pavement queen then it's notta a problem as-is.

OP...elaborate on your typical/expected use of the truck so you got much MORE comprehensive responses. People here are known for 2 facts:

1) Love pics

2) Love to spend your money

I was gonna suggest that the 4.10s are probably up to the challenge without too much wear and tear on the transmission, but as WhiteNuckle points out, knowing HOW you use your trucks matters...

I had 35's mounted on some 20 inch rims that i drove for a while. My 4.10's were enough for the street driving and whatnot. But I wouldnt have hesitated to go 4.56 if I was keeping them for offroad or whatnot.. My new set up will include 4.88's though

Well after going though this same question in the past I do wish I had gone 488 now. The 456's work well, but I fo think 488's would be more inline with towing and off road

Hahaha ain't that the truth... I don't think it needs regeared unless you tow a substantial amount

no hard feelings about hi-jacking this thread, but how hard is it to actually swap gears? i've always thought about doing it someday, but i have too many other things that need attention first lol
