Default 1994 Steering Box Replace leads to No Steering

About a month ago, bought the Borgeson box and put it in. While doing it, I didnt realize that I needed the plastic sleeve on the intermidiate shaft, threw it away.... oops. About a week ago going 70 mph down the highway, I lose all steering because the shafts came apart in the steering column. Been looking for info on this for weeks, took the column out and to the dealer, they said they have never seen anything like it before in their lives.... Say nothing about a RECALL with the plastic sleeve I threw away. So my question is, get a newer column that doesn't have this problem? Or do they sell those plastic sleeves? Need some help. Thanks.

Oops. Shouldn't have done that. I highly doubt you'll be able to find another one anywhere. It likely comes on the intermediate shaft from the dealer and not as a separate part. IF you can find one in the junk yard you could try that. You might want to just get an upgraded shaft though. I have the Borgeson. I can't say that you'll notice any difference. Just more confidence in the beef of the part.

Well I found a new used column 75$, had sleeve on it. Also found a NOS one at a local dealership still, had to drive two hours to get it, ugh, and the kicker is it only cost 1.49$ but the guy gave me one of the new dodge srt mouse pads, so it wasnt so bad. Got it all back in and good, what a pain. Please if anybody does this on a 94-95 dont forget to put that back on, or upgrade these pos shafts..... Ill get a pic of the sleeve soon, with a pn for anybody interested.

The plastic piece that goes in between the shift linkage and the rubber boot on the steering shaft. It was a quick stupid fix to a really scary problem. Ill get a pic of it tomorrow for you.
