Default offrod package axle swap

Ok i can get a set of axles out of a 2000 dodge ram 1500 offroad package for fairly cheap. i wanna put them in my truck since they have 4 10 gears and limited slip. My truck is a 2001 dodge ram 1500 4x4 and im pretty sure they should bolt in no problem? Does anyone know for sure? Because the only thing i can think could be different is that maybe the offroad package axles might be thicker or something.

What is the front axle geared to? Gotta match front and rear diffs.

Oops. For some reason I thought you were only getting the rear axle.. Doh!

Should be a direct bolt in. no troubles at all. (aside from the usual rusted bolts, etc.)

They ARE bolt ins. There might be 2 things to compensate for: ABS (RWAL or AWAL) and rear disk/drum.

My truck only has rwal, if the offroad package has 4 wheel abs, i just wont have anything to plug in so i guess that wouldent get an issue and both trucks have drums on the rear

Good!

So you're already done yeah?

I'm not aware of any OREs with AWAL, but mine is RWAL, and this is not to say there aren't any OREs with AWAL.

Hopefully the LSD is not shot.

Let us know how it goes.

WhiteNuckle brings up a great point on the LSD, might wanna pull the diff covers and check it out before you put in under your truck.

I agree. The factory LSD isn't exactly the most robust in design either. Might as well check it and repair it if necessary now so it won't cause down time later.

Best case scenario, you won't find any broken pieces and you'll simply be putting fresh gear lube in there which you should be doing for the swap anyway.
