Default need some ideas from the ram experts

I have a 99 ram 1500 with a 5.2l. I just had the trans rebuilt from top to bottom (had the overdrive clutches go bad and wrecked the pump etc. Since then when I'm on the highway @ 100 km/h the truck "surges". I have read here somewhere someone suggested the TPS...any body have any other ideas? No, I haven't done the plenum, yes it needs to be done, and yes I saw all the parts they took out of my trans including the sensorsIt started doing it as the trans went. I was thinking maybe the pcms not functioning right, but no trouble codes. Any ideas would be appriciated.

Mine started doing the same thing on a long trip but my light came on and gave me a P0734 code.

Couldnt find the code in my book so I looked on here and found a topic that another member had the same code and claimed he put in a new output speed sensor and it fixed. I just changed mine yesterday but light is still on but no more issues. The sensor was only $16.99

I gotta agree with ram360. I'm thinking the TPS might be giving you that symptom. I'd also definitely do the plenum ASAP!!! That very well could be giving you a slight hesitation/misfire from the oil it's leaking.

I have a thread going on this topic..I have the shudder at idle and as soon as it hits 40mph at low rpm's (1100) It won't happen with OD turned off tho..try driving with yours off and post your results..also you can test your TPS with a multimeter..

If it surges up 200rpms quickly and drops back and does at quite even intervals, then will bet it's the TPS. Probably won't get a code until it's real bad. 35 bucks easy fix. Mine was surging for a year, worse if I used cruise. Changed output speed sensor, didn't fix. Finally got a code, was the TPS. Like your truck!

If it's not too late, please disconnect the negative battery cable before/while you remove the old and replace with new TPS.
