Default Replacement headlight bulb 98 ram 1500 Laramie

Does anyone know the maximum watt bulb that can be used to replace the stock 9004 bulb. Woukd like to replace with a Xenon HID.

55 is the legal limit. Keep in mind, that even those tend to smoke the wiring......

They come stock with 65/45. Should i be ok with a Xenon HID 65/45 bulb

I think HID's only come in 35 and 55 watt. 35 is plenty bright. Unless you go with bi zenon, you will only have low beams.

Here are the specs of a bulb that was recommended. Would this work?.

Xenon Gas 100/80 W 9004 HID High & Low Beam Light Bulbs
--Specification--

Color:
Hyper White,
5000K Color Temperature
Type/Volt/Watt:
9004, 12V, 100/80 W -- High & Low Beam Bulbs

It will work but be illegal for one. And fry the wiring or headlight switch for two. If you do decide to run them, you should upgrade the wiring also. LMC truck has a kit. Or you can wire in some relays which should work.

Remember these lights have plastic lenses... higher wattage bulbs will produce more heat... go too high and there is risk of melting the plastic.

Here is an interesting thread on HID, and Halogen bulbs... seems that just putting the bulbs in housings that weren't specifically designed for them, is illegal.... Granted, they are in texas, but, most of what is discussed is federal law.
