Default Tips for power and gear ratio

I have a 1994 dodge ram 5.9. Right now I am running Iridium plugs, 8.5mm wires, K and N CAI, 180 degree thermostat, with duel 3" straight pipe exhaust and no cat converter (legal in my state) and the plenum is replaced. What else can I do for power that does not include huge cash investments?

Also I see people talking about gear ratio, I have a stock transmission what is a good gear ratio and how do I change it? (I can do basic stuff but never learned this). Any help would be great.

Not a great deal you can do for power without spending $$$$. If you didn't replace the timing chain with the plenum that needs to be done, double roller's are cheap at rockauto.com

HarlandSharp 1.7rr are a good upgrade I think.

If you're running stock sized tires then a 3.92 gear ratio would help a bit, 4.10s or lower if you have large tires.

If you aren't familiar with changing gears and don't have anyone around that does know how, I would take it to a shop, too much can go wrong if it's not done 100% correct.

The tires on it are not a whole lot bigger then stock, the stock was 225-75-16 I have 265-75-16, a little bigger but not huge lift kit tires. So 4.10? would be good? And I planned on a stage 2 chip and headers. I guess RR are a good way to go.

I had a brain fart! I totally forgot about the SCT Tuner! Hemifever sells SCT Tuners which are a great help for these motors, around $265 for 3 canned tunes I think.

4.10s would probably be a good choice.

Headers would be a nice choice.

I called to get a few quotes for the ratio to go to 4.10, never thought it costs so much. All quoted $600 in labor alone.

Because honestly, who cares what the feds say has to be under your car/truck when the local authorities don't care nor enforce anything? Or if there's no emissions testing or vehicle inspections?

When I adjusted my TV Cable the truck has a little more pep accelerating.. Shift point's changed a little and better power when shifting to the next gear.

Thread in the DIY section.
