Default 305-75-16 vs 295-75-16?

New to the forum here but not new to the industry and the search function and just havent found much info on what im looking for. Ive been looking at getting new tires on my 01 2500 sport that i picked up for 5 grand. i was looking at 305-70-16 goodyear duratracs but like the slightly taller size from a 295-75-16 without moving to a 35 but loose the ability to get that size in a duratrac. so in that size i would look at a nitto terra grappler. ive looked around alot but havent seen too much of either of these sizes on any 2500s. Anybody have pics of either of these two tires on their trucks? heres how the truck looks now.

If you plan on going into any mud at any depth, even 4", do NOT get the terra grapplers. I had them and got stuck in 4wd in my front lawn. They pack with mud and turn into slicks. I had 265/75/16 at the time and only half of the sidewall was buried (roughly 3"-4").

im not really planning on mudding with the truck. ive had mud terrains on different vehicles and plan on staying with an all terrain. i just want good on road characteristics and decent snow quality for the winter.

What about a 235/85R16 tire size, that would let you run the Dura trac tires. I don't have them but I see 2500 and 3500 using them up here in the mountains of BC, snowflake rated good tire from what I have been told.

Good for a snow tire but way to skinny for what i want. Also comes in at only 31.7 inches tall. I wanna stay between 32.8 and 33.5.

i have the duratracs in a 285/75/16 and love em! if you want them for snow, you want the skinniest tire possible. try a 255/85/16 those are around 33's

I think i should have been more clear in my first post. i live in ct and im not looking to put a tire on just for snow. i want a wider tire (mostly for looks) and around 33" tall. im really hoping someone has an opinion on a 295-75-16 and pics if poss.

i live just north of you in NH.... i run a 285/75/16 tire for plowing, and i sometimes wish i had went with a skinnier tire in the deeper stuff, but the 285's are working just fine.

295/75/16's are closer to 34" tires. what gear ratio do you have in your axles? if you have 3.55's go with a 285/75/16. which is considered a 33" tire.
