Question Shifting problems

I have a 98dodge ram 1500, 5.9 engine when it starts up it runs and shifts fine then it messes up and gets stuck in first gear, and after about a mile it starts shifting but will not downshift below 3rd gear. Codes showing are 1757 and 1763 replaced governor and governor selenoid, still showed codes. P0500 showed up so I replaced vss problem still exists except now the code is 1762. Took it to a tranny shop they said its electrical not tranny. I am goin broke and need help!!! Anyone can help me? PS.All fuses and relays are good.

Have you been removing neg battery cable before changing the sensors? And what was in the pan when you removed it the first time. Might try adjusting bands. Also, did you inspect the harness inside the tranny for wear/rubbing?

I had similar problem with my 99 5.9. It wouldn't go into overdrive, then downshift back and forth. It was the speed sensor on the tranny. Took me forever to find it because I didn't know there was two speed sensors. One for the spedo and one for the shifting.
