1995 ram 1500 code 32 and 37
Ok, have some time to update wife's project truck. I got the door panels redone and replaced the carpet with one from rockauto. ( 119 ) I got a pair of chrome power mirrors at the junkyard (37.00) and installed. Wiring was already in the door. A guy in west dallas sold me 5 BFG MTs with 40% tread. (265/75/17) 150.00. Added chrome side steps.( 149.00) Had a local metal shop fab up a front winch bumper ( 375 ) and the local body shop sprayed it with bedliner. ( sharp! ) I add a 12k HF winch.( 299.00) Replaced 02 sensor ( Rockauto )and welded up a loose cat heat shield. Repulled the dash to look at radio harness. I think I'll just run new wires. Tried to separate the radio wires in the old harness. Uhg!

Got ins on it today at $24.00 a month so now its a driver. A couple of things. There is a loud double squeak in the engine coming from the idler pulley. It is new. The bracket that it is bolted into, a piece broke off ( comp/alt bracket). Is this common ? And at times the trans is slow to engage after cold startup. I was going to replace the filter ( 7.00 at Autozone). Can I use AZ type 4 trans fluid ? In both my NY/NY5th ave 604 trans I only use chrysler fluid but the local dealer does not stock it by the qt and when he does its $11.00 a qt. The 93 NYorker has 110k miles and the 93 5th Ave has 200k on their transes.

Thanks for the info on the trans fluid and the bracket. I'll look for the check valve delete. Also on my list of repairs I need to add headlamp replacement ( 28.00 apeice at Rockauto and came with new bulbs). Rear brakes and axle seals. I also noticed that the diff clutches were worn out but I'll save those for another day. I replaced the body side moulding with LMC parts ( 129.00 black/with chrome inserts) and add Texas Edition plaques , free from the ford dealer.

The wife and I went out for a drive last week to check out the lake levels and get a fishing report late afternoon. The truck started to overheat. I got out and saw it was leaking coolant at the rear of the engine. We drove a bit further to a closed gas station. I pulled the hood release when we jumped out to find some water. We found everything locked up. When we got back in the truck my sister called and spent 20 mins yaking. We took off down the hwy to find the next station and BAM ! The hood flew up and smashed into the windshield ! We pulled over and cleaned out our pants. Damn ! We pushed and pulled and finally got it down and wired it shut with a wire from a flyswatter that we keep in the cars for just such a emergency. ( a whole other story ). Long story short , we had to get another hood. I went to car-parts.com but all the black hoods listed were damaged. Certifit had one new for $114.95 but I would have to have a bodyshop paint it ( $$$$ ). Then, at last, I found one downtown at the pick-n-pull for $50.00 with hinges and it looks good. The leak is at the back of the cyl head at the intake ( common ? ). I ordered the intake kit from hughes ( 138.00 )and have been studying on here how to install it.
