Default 97 dodge ram 1500 wont start!!

Hi,

I have a 97 dodge ram 1500 4x4 with a 318. I did a tune up (plugs, wires, ditributor) and now it wont start, it ran before. i change out the coil, the rotor and verified that it has spark, i even verified the timing with the rotor and nothing. I checked the resistance on the injectors, it was good, i even changed out the ASD relay as well as the camshaft positon sensor. The fuel pump kicks on before i start it too. I am stumped and its a bit frustrating to not have my truck running. I am need of assistance and it would be greatly appreciated....this is my work truck and i need her running.

So it was running, you did a tune up, now it doesn't run, correct?
Is it cranking, turning over and stalling, or what?

What was done during the tune up? Plugs, wires, cap and rotor? Or the actual distributor? Is the rotor the pushed on all the way in and installed in the correct position (and not 180 degrees off)..Re check the firing order and make sure the plug wires are routed correctly as laid out in the TSB (maybe someone can provide a link for it).

Did you loosen the distributor and turn it to verify the timing?

Sounds like you got the timing fubar or the plug wires in the wrong places.

Personally by the sounds if it IDE say your plug wires or timing. A lot of it depends if its turning over, stalling, etc.

hi guys, thanks for the replies....

The wires are in the correct place, i check like 6 times, it cranks, but no start. I verified the timing by removing the distributor cap and verified it with the timing marks on the front end and also with #1 TDC. It was correct. I read somewhere that the crankshaft position sensor could be the problem? If so what are the symptoms of one of these sensors going bad?

Make sure the crank or cam sensor didn't get unplugged some how. The plugs for them are right in the area of the cap. Also make sure the ground wires didn't get broken. Like the ones going to the fire wall and the one that bolts near the power steering pump bracket.
