WITTRANS shipped the new bearings yesterday. They are on UPS truck out for sdelivery. Their customer service rocks!

So I am going to pull truck into garage at noon and drop OD unit. Should have it out before UPS gets here. May have it back in and running by end of day (so wife can park her car inside.....that's always important...)

I am replacing the overrunning clutch also just to be sure.

Making noise? Easy to figure if you jack it up and put in gear. My noise would come and go, but for once I got lucky and it was noisy right away when I crawled under it. Use stethoscope to make sure all other frive train compnents were not noisy, including rear end.


Not realizing I would be back into this tranny, I improvised the first time:

This time, I had a 3/8” thick piece of rolled stock cut for the top and a piece of ¼” rolled stock with a hole cut for the bottom, and ½” rod to weld between them for the tooling to compress OD unit and remove safely. Will decide on length of rod when I get OD out and on the press.

It gets worse.....the bearing spun in the case, and the overrunning clutch is in pieces....(but I suspected the OR clutch...hoped the bearing did not spin) so I need a new rear half of case.
