Does the Overdrive SUCK in these trucks? or is it me?
Plenty of power in all forward gears, but as soon as it hits OD its like somone has come along and chopped the ***** off of my truck, no power AT ALL, I actually lose speed going up even the slightest hill.
I have to pretty much floor it to get it to kick up and give me power, either that or hit the OD/OFF button (Which I dont think I should have to do)...That button is for towing or hauling heavy loads, is it not?
Its annoying as hell!!!!
Would the SCT tuner fix this? Is it a timing issue? My TV cable appears to be adjusted properly, all my shift points are where they should be and it shifts smoothly, just NO ***** in OD.

I almost always drive under 55 and it has never helped my fuel economy. Having the engine and transmission spinning more to cover a distance will use more fuel, not less. Now, when towing, it will prevent engine lugging, which can cause an engine to burn more fuel as it tries dump in fuel to maintain its speed. Outside of that, the laws of physics would have to change to explain how using more energy(more gas from the engine spinning at higher RPM versus the OD) can save energy.

And yes, the slightest hill and I lose 5-8 mph and the dumbass tranny kicks down to 2nd to rocket back up to speed. So, I lightly tap the break before each hill to maintain my speed manually and not burn a half gallon of fuel while the cruise control floors it to get back up to speed.
