Question Any Advice?

Hey I have a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 4WD 5.9. Last night while driving the truck died. Pulled over and it wouldn't start again. However, I noticed there is no oil pressure and the red oil lamp light is on.
Oil pressure switch? Oil pump? Any suggestions on where to start?
The oil level is where it should be, isn't low at all.

You wouldn't have any oil pressure until it was running. Are you saying before it died there was no oil pressure? If so, stick a fork in that engine, most likely.

Swap ASD relay with another relay (check oil level first). See if it starts.

It has to have spark, fuel, and air to run. Verify spark, and check for fuel pressure. (I think it should be around 40psi on a 97 - but not sure.)

I'm just wondering if you read any of the OP besides "won't start"?

Tess, these are not like Toyota's. They will happily run until they seize up for lack of oil. There is no low oil cutoff. But, as gdstock said, there could be a bad relay or fuse, but since it died while driving, that makes the fuse or relay very unlikely. My mind would immediately go to bad fuel pump first. Then, if you have fuel pressure, next eliminate the crank sensor or IAC.

Yeah, I did......and I thought you pretty well covered the no oil pressure and the red light thing....so I addressed the basics such as spark and fuel.... And ASD can cut off while running for a variety of reasons, but there was not enough info to determine if that is the case.

What am I missing?

Fuel pressure is possibly among the most likely issue.

You pretty much said the same thing as GD, right after you got on his case... I don't get it.

After fuel pressure is verified WITH a gauge (not an easy task on a 97 that most likely has a plastic fuel rail) and spark is verified. The first thing I would do is unscrew the precat O2 sensor and see if it starts.

The fuel pump is working, the fuel pressure is good. However, discovered there's no spark going into the coil. All the fuses and relays are good. Guy said to replace the crankshaft position sensor..?

Um, you mean from the coil?
