Default rear diff oil weight?

my 01 ram 1500 4x4 sport with the anti-spin rear has 73k miles on it. I plan to change the oil in the rear tomorow but have no idea what weight I should use. do I use a thinner oil for the winter or does it not even matter. what is your favorite oil?

Yup it's a friction modifier and is used whenever the gear oil is changed..not all diff call for tho..did mine about 2 months ago and used valvoline high performance gear oil..I'm pretty sure lots of guys on here use mobile1 or purple. And you should id it first. Lift your hood the white label is on the frame in front of the rad

There is also a sticker in the glove box, and get one of these from dodge to ID the axle. And a lot of other stuff. http://www.dodge.com/wccsapp/univers...ull&category=U

And in the FAQ/DIY section there is a thread that has capacities and fluid types.

Either way, the friction modifier won't hurt if it is just a corporate 9 1/4 axle. Which I'd say it is, if it's not an off road edition.
