Unhappy airbag problems! please help

So i have a 2001 ram 2500 and the airbag light came on. I brought it to the dealer and there is a code saying there is a short to ground in the drivers side system. I looked at the clock-spring fist because i know these are an issue and it turned out there was power going in but not coming out so i replaced the clock spring and i know this was a problem because my cruse control started working again after the replacement. my problem is the airbag light is still on. does the dealer need to reset the system after the replacement? i know in some cases you do. thanks in advance.

Disconnect the battery ground for a few minutes. Then recconect it. See if that resets it.

Never had an airbag problem.....

I suspect something is still wrong. You can go to the FAQ/DIY section and download factory service manual. Keep in mind that airbags can cause serious injury. Be carefull. I believe that either the multifunction switch or the CTM may be involved in the circuit, but not sure. There is a chapter on airbag, and the electrical is Section 8W. Might check there first, and if all else fails - dealer.

now the dealer is saying they won't reset the light because they didn't do the repairs.

I think you have to have a scanner to reset the light.

Go to auto parts store. Actually, buy a code reader. Everyone needs one of those.

i'm not sure an auto parts store will have a scanner for the airbag system. it needs a special scanner. im trying other dealers to see if they will reset it.
