Using Old Fuel Rail W/ New Injectors
As long as your fuel rail isn't heavily rusted, you will be fine re-using it. The factory fuel rail is made of fairly thin metal, so check it closely. If money is an issue, why not re-use the injectors you have? The factory injectors are pretty tough and very reliable. Pick up some new seals, clean and re-install them to save some cash..
i don't think it is that easy with the way fuels are today. by the time you finish cleaning your injectors you will have spend about half what it cost to buy professionally rebuilt Bosch 4 hole injectors of eBay that come with a warranty.
You'll have 2 different versions of the Ford injectors...EV1 for the '92-'99 year models and the EV6 for the '00 + models with the only difference being the shape of the connectors. You can find a complete set of re manufactured 4 hole Ford injectors with warranty on Ebay for less than the cost of one new stock fuel injector.

The stock injectors have only one hole for the fuel spray and the Ford injectors have 4 holes. This will give a much finer spray which in turn will give you a lot better fuel amortization for a lot better fuel/air mixture. I get a lot smoother idle, just a tick more mpg (if I control my right foot) and just a lot smoother running engine across the entire rpm range.

Great info guys. I looked into the EV1s this morning and i like the price. I have a question though....What pound rating would a 99 5.9 require? iv seen the EV1 injectors from 38lb to 60 lb.
Also on the orignal topic i have had to remove my injectors to clean my fuel rail once before. I plugged all the outlets but the rear one on each side a turned the key ahead to let the pump cycle and push on any dirt. it took a few about 2 gallons of gas to get everything out i had no idea the system could be that dirty.

Our stock injectors are rated @ 21lb/hr@49psi fuel pressure. You'll want the Ford 19# injectors which are rated 19#@43.5psi fuel pressure. With our increased fuel pressure the 19# Ford will bump up to 21lb/hr. Have worked perfectly in my 5.9 for well over 5 years.
Just for reference, the 3.9, 5.2 and 5.9 all take the same injectors. The 4.7, 5.7 and 6.1 is a different story.
