help with blue smoke please
95 ram 318 I just recently change oil due to oil disappearing. Just vanishing on dipstick now my truck smokes blue smoke when i horse it explains y my oil is vanishing but y i checked my pvc valve it was clogged my O2 sensors have been disconnected. As far as i can tell no power loss when oil is low it will blow a puff of smoke if i let it sit over nite when i fill it no smoking upon start up but always blows when i rev it any ideas???

blown rings.. What is happening if you dont know is your engines piston rings are worn out so oil is shooting up through you piston into your combustion chamber..this is mixing with your air/fuel and giving you blue smoke. what you are describing is very common when you have blown rings..at an idle you will not notice it but if you get into second and punch it you will see blue smoke coming out of the exhaust. this is kinda of a crappy situation. a lot of people just keep adding oil...unfourtantly this is a problem that will not get better over time. You will have to take apart the block and rebuild you short block. If i were you i would get some quotes and just take it easy as long as you are not going obnoxious you should be fine for a long while, just keeping checking your oil
just saying it could be a head gasket, but i very much doubt it

So what i should probably do is check compression on cylinders more then likely what you said is correct maybe i should just look for a new block. Yeah its a 95 maybe not worth it to many but i love my truck and it would be worth it to me. Ive never rebuilt a vehicle engine but j have many 4 wheeler motors so should i change rings and pistons and have cylinders honed out or just swap motors?

check your compression its easy..take out your plugs, go to auto store rent a compression tester, take out your fuel relay and turn over engine..all the cylinders should be close to each other if you have one significantly low then odds are its the rings..as far as plenum gasket it could be if that was never replaced but im personally leaning more towards rings..to check your plenum gasket stick a light inside your throttle body and see if their is oil ( this isnt full proof but should give you a good idea if you have a leaky gasket) and all you would need is a short block, i bet you could pick up one from a junkyard cheap then just take everything off and put it on, the only prob is you might run into the same problem
