Short Creaking Noise on Deceleration
Okay, today was finally a nice day and I decided to pull the extension housing on the tcase to see if maybe the splines were jacked up or if the snap ring came loose. Well everything was fine.
My question is, I was looking at the splines on the rear driveshaft and noticed there is a space in the splines (see pic). And was wondering if it is supposed to be lined up with something or? I have the yoke end of the shaft marked to be lined up correctly so that ends not a problem.
Also...any suggestions on what else to look for?
Its the space on the left side

Well here was the problem.. Tranny mount broke in two and there's just about zero rubber left. Replaced it today and no unusual sounds! The lack of rubber made the top half of the mount scrape against the bottom half as the tranny moved.
Having no rubber also caused the mount to be half as tall as it should be which dropped the tranny/driveline a few inches and unknowingly made shifting feel loose. Now it's nice and smooth.
here's what I took out. There's supposed to be a few inches of rubber between the two.
I didn't know that until I checked out a friends mount
