98 ram 2500 v 10 sudden miss
Truck was running fine. Pulled up to a stop sign and it starts missing. No power and miss gets loud at wot. The plugs all have spark. One plug is black. dry but black. Any ideas? No codes. No lights on.
Possible but doesnt seem likely due to it coming on suddenly. I also checked in the dark looking for arcing and saw and heard none.
Fuel pressure checks at 50 psi when running. 35 at idle 50 under throttle. Replaced one bad looking plug no change. Still bad miss no CEL ect.

I put new wires in and one had a bad connection, which caused a miss.
But when my Cats went it seemed like a miss and had PING at hard acceleration.
The Cats just all of a sudden happened, no warning.
I think when 1 collapsed/clogged it sped the failure of the 2nd cat. That was 2003 the dealer could not find anything wrong at first, I brought it back 3 times before they found the Bad cats.
I have seen some posts here about miss on the V10s and its usually plug/wire/coil pack/ or Cat related.

I just typed into the search box "v10 Miss" with the quotes and several old threads came up..
I would try this and see if any of the symptoms sound familiar to yours

Well I found the problem. Broken rocker arm bolt. Sludge up the wazoo. The pushrod was plugged. It would appear the previous owner was not a good maintance guy. Dont know if its worth keeping or just fixing and trading in.
