Default 97 Ram 2500 360 stalls at stops

You all helped me so much last time, I just couldnt get enough, so here I am again :-)

Truck just started stalling when I let off the gas at a stop sign. It idles fine when I start it and sit.

I would like to go step by step to find the problem but dont know where to start. Can anyone offer assistance as to what to check and how?

Thank you in advance.

Clean your Idle Air Controller, which is that dude on the back of the throttle body with wires connected to it. There's a write-up in the FAQ/DIY section, if memory serves. Try that first and if it doesn't fix it ask someone smarter than me about it.

The DIY is in the van section I believe.
DISCONNECT NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE FIRST...

replace IAC. (save the old one).
clean the well in the back of the throttle body where the pintle sits. especially make sure the hole in the center is open and clean. don't push, pull, or twist on the new IAC and don't forget the o-ring.

Quick question. Did your battery die at all? When ever my battery is 100% dead, after I jump it the truck will stall out all the time until I drive it some.

yea, I got a 98 dodge 318 that had that problem when i first got it. It would die whenever i started it and when i let off the gas, which meant i had to stay on the gas and brake to slow down. I ended up replacing the IAC and spraying a ton of SEAFOAM down and around the throttle body. I dont know which fixed the problem, but it no longer does it. Both worked on my dad's 01 360 as well

I removed the IAC and cleaned it, also cleaned the hole. Re-installed and it still does it.

What does the disconnection of the negative terminal do? Just curious.

I will look into the costs of the IAC. Any other things to look at that would cause this? I dont believe its the battery, it starts up all the time no problems. I will however check it tomorrow.

It resets the pcm. And you should have disconnected the neg cable before cleaning or replacing the IAC. And cleaning is not always the solution. The IAC may simply be bad.
