Default How to remove the Dashcap??

I know you guys have heard a lot about this issue... But I am in the process of trying to replace the Dashcap. Well I wanted to just put a Dash cover on it... But all but a small piece of my Dashcap is gone!! So it seems that the only way to remove the Dashcap is to remove the whole Dash? Am I correct or is there a easier way to do this?

I am confused. Is your factory dash missing? Before or after you put the cap on?

I honestly don't know how one would install a cap with a destroyed dash, other than replacing the dash. But then you wouldn't need a cap, would you?

I removed the entire instrument panel to do it. It might be possible to do it with the panel rocked rearward, but it would be a massive PITA. There are quite a few screws in the front of the thing, heads forward/threads rearward, and you'd have to be some kind of contortionist that I'm too old to be to get at them.

Besides, you probably want to replace the heater core while you're at it, and that's easier with the instrument panel removed, too.
