96 Ram 2500 4WD WIPERS NOT WORKING HELP!!!
My wipers aren't functioning. I got the motor off and tested it and it works fine. I then tested the wiring on the harness and I only get 12 volts on the blue wire the other ones are dead. I tested the purple wire attached to the wiper control module and nothing. What should I do? How can I get power to those wires? I have checked the fuses and relays and all of them are good but it doesn't say anywhere wiper fuse or wiper relay it must be connected to something else..
Someone has suggested replacing the switch but it works for everything except wipers and I herd about ppl replacing it and still nothing happens.. How can I know for sure so I don't waste my money at the junkyard.
Thanks

test for power at the relays in the power distribution box beside the battery.
the multifunction switch and CTM will send power to the relays, which close to deliver the main power.
if no power at relays, remove column plastic covers and test for power in the huge wad of wires at the tilt joint. after that, remove multifunction switch and test per procedure in service manual and haynes. there is a free download in the sticky threads.
welcome to df.

Okay so first off the distribution box I have checked all the relays and they are all good.. but I didn't see a relay that says anything about wipers.. is there a specific one I should be looking for?
As far as the huge wad of wires.. which wire am I suppose to be testing? I can see the harness of the wiper motor leads to the far left side then comes out of a grommet and joins with a bigger harness and everything is wrapped in black tape so really have no idea what to test here.. lol
fill out your signature/control panel info with your truck year, 2wd/4wd, engine, trans. see the upper left -> UserCP
download the service manual that's closest to you. 94-95, 96-97, for 98+ use the 2001.
uh-oh. these links are not working.....

look on the underside of your pdc cover. you should have a wiper relay, maybe 2 for Lo vs Hi. if yours aren't labeled turn on intermittent wipers and listen for the tell-tale click on the low speed at each wiper pulse.
section 8 of the 2001 service manual has the wiring diagram that identify the color of each wire. you'll look for the Wiper Lo speed and Wiper Hi speed wire, and test for 12v when the wiper switch is on. These will go to the relay(s).
If the column switch is good, these will have power. If the column switch is bad, they won't. Its easier and faster to test at the relays than in the column.

There is a 20 amp mini fuse for wiper and its good and it looks like it hooks up to the same blue wire I tested which has 12 volts, the other 3 wires have no voltage how do I get power to them? I can see the harness goes under the distribution box. No there is nothing labeled wiper under the cover just alternator, abs pump, fog lights, etc. Its raining everyday and it looks like I'm getting no where.

I checked out the service manual and its confusing. It says its relay 3 and I look at the distribution box and there is no numbers anywhere ? I get 12 volts from whatever relay I check anyway..
