Default tire swaping

Hey guys, I have the 2001 v6 2wd 1500 - skinny tires & wheels stock. Can the wider tires & wheels from a 4wd work on mine - as in, will the bolt pattern fit? I have a chance to upgrade at a good price & want to know if the wheels will be of any use to me. ALSO - a local scrap yard in my town has a perfect dash cap & gauge trim bezel from a 95 4x4 - CC recycling in cedar rapids iowa.

rims will fit if it is the 1500 on the parts truck but if the rims are 15s the rim will not clear the caliper

the dash is a no go i believe in 98 they changed the dash style

Not sure you'd want the tires that would look good on a 4x4 on a V6 truck unless you already had 4.56 gears.

As far as the dash, nope. 95 won't work unless you want to swap EVERYTHING.

Having a V6 Ram that I drive daily I will attest that you will not enjoy those tires with this engine. You are talking about making a dog of epic proportions. Like zero to 60 in a minute flate

Wow, good to know guys. I ran into some more tranny issues, so I need to save tire money for that rebuild AGAIN. Thanks for the heads up!

Again, as in 2nd rebuild? Shoot, 2 rebuilds is probably close to an entry level Viper Transmission from PATC...

Edit: After paying attention and looking it would appear they don't offer anything to replace the 42RE.

Why can't you just drop a 46RE in it? I mean, the 3.9 six is just a 5.2 eight with the back two cylinders lopped off....

The internal ratios are all different. Would make it a doggy sloth. I advise NEVER to buy another v6 full sized pickup ever. Giant mistake on my part.

Alright, sure enough, looked them up in the FSM and the V6 has shorter ratios.

All the more reason the V6 sucks ***, lack of compatibility.
