Gov sensor & Solenoid, and to add, the speed sensor on the OD.
I was told by several places the OD solenoids very rarely go bad.
The truck will start off in 2nd, I get it going, cycle the key on and off and it will start off in 1st till next time.
My speedometer tends to only work in the warmer months as well, the speed sensor in the differential is new as well.
I drive a Charger when there isnt snow (April till whenever) and then drive the truck. 80% of the other times it sits unless I need to haul something.

google turned up this unexpected possibility.
Ok. On a gas engine there are 2 main factors that can set this code. The first one, seemingly transmission unrelated, is a partially shorted upstream or downstream oxygen sensor. The sensors share the same 5 volt reference as the governor in the trans, and a bad sensor can sometimes set this code without setting an o2 sensor code. To check for this you can unplug the sensors, clear the codes and drive the truck to see if the problem still is there. The most likely cause for the problem is a bad governor pressure solenoid or transducer. These both mount to the valve body and are replaced together when there is a governor problem. If the o2 sensor test does not change anything, drop the pan and replace the solenoid and transducer (pressure sensor)
