You want bright headlights and smoked headlight covers? How does that work?

 

Not very well.

 

If i had regular bulbs, not enough light would go through with the smoked covers. The thing is, where I'm at, if there isn't a certain amount of light at night the cops could pull you over. I want smoked covers but i have to get brighter bulbs so i don't take the chance of getting pulled over. I'm sure even with smoked lense and the ultrastars, it'll still be brighter than no covers and regular bulbs.

 

I've not heard much good about those Sillyvanias. YMMV.

 

I did some looking around the forum and heard good about them and some philips bulbs that are actually cheaper. Some people say they get hotter than regular bulbs, but I guess I'll just have to see.

 

I had them before. They're good but not brighter. It's the location in the color spectrum that makes them better. It's a whiter light rather than a yellow. The wattage is the same.

 

I sure don't like it when I see those blue lights coming at me, damn near blind a person. The other night I actually seen some pink tint light coming down the road, makes me just want to do something that could get me in trouble, same with those ***** hanging on back of truck.

 

Aftermarket headlight assemblies are not adjustable at all. Only stock units are. I learned the hard way. Cheap HID setups have huge glare - I really feel light shooting at oncoming traffic that has these. The more expensive hella units I find are fine to drive toward since they produce far less glare.

 

Not ALL aftermarket housings lack adjustments, mainly the cheap-*** units.
Some of the better, more expensive housings DO have adjustment screws.

 

x 2. the silverstar and silverstar ultra bulbs tend to burn out faster than the regular ones and are almost twice as expensive per pair. they do burn hotter than the regular bulbs which is why the do not last as long. I get complaints all the time about them at work and I have stopped recommending them to customers for the most part. In my opinion, HIDs are almost more trouble than they're worth. I've been through three of the $115 price range sets and they always seem to quit working right after the warranty expires! Maybe its just my luck. However, HIDs are def a better light source (esp. 6000K - the higher in the color zone you get, the less light ouput there is) , but get some quality ones with more than a 1 year warranty.
