noticeably lower than my sport version.or did someone lower the 02?
The guy at the dealer has no idea what he is talking about. The sport package is only a cosmetic appearance package and has no effect on ride height (colored bumpers and grill, alternate headlights, etc.). Your 2nd gen ram may have taller tires, but that has nothing to do with the "sport" designation. As was said before, shocks have no effect on ride height either The only thing affecting ride height that came as a factory installed option was the offroad package for 2nd gen rams. The offroad package for 3rd gens actually didnt noticeably change the ride height at all. (i have an 01 and an 04 1500, both with the offroad package)

The short answer is, yes, the 3rd gens have taller cabs but do ride lower than the 2nd gens, presumably to increase aerodynamics.

'02 was the first year of the 3rd gen bodied (and suspension-ed) 1500's.

Well then it should have torsion bars, what if someone lowered it's stance?

Yea, more likely they just sit lower to start with. The newer you go with trucks, the lower they get.

i looked at an 05 1500 4x4 today it was the same as my 2000 1500 same height.nut sure if it was a sport or not it didnt say anything on it but im guessing maybe from 02 to 03 0r 04 they made the 1500s lower.

I've noticed my 97 1500 sits higher than other 2nd gens. My suspension is all stock also. I wonder if its because my truck has the factory tow package?

dont think thats the reason but would love to see a pic of them all side by side to show people what i mean.the 02 i test drove i felt so low in it was really odd i really didnt like it.It was driving a dakota heck if i know why they made them lower but when i drive a truck i like it to be up a little higher.maybe ill go look at some 2500's next seeing as dodge is making the 1500s now to low for me .And who ever said the newer you go on trucks the lower they will sit this is not always true.My buddy has a ram 2500 4x4 its an 08 and its no lower then his old 2001 2500.ever see the new ford super dutys?are they low riders?no there not so that statment is just not true with everything.maybe its true with ram 1500s not not all trucks.

That. The 2002 (3rd gen) Rams were noticeably lower than the 2nd gen Rams. However, the 2WD 3rd gens were a bit taller than the 2WD 2nd gens.

EVERYTHING. Body style is totally different, you can't really compare 2nd gen to 3rd gen.
