Default Lift kit

I have a 1996 dodge ram. I bought it from a friend a couple months ago and now i want to add a little lift to it. it already has a leveling kit on it but i want to add a 3" body lift to it also. I have herd it was kind of easy to do something like this but then i looked into it online and found out that you have to extend the steering and do other stuff like that. Is it really worth it to do the body lift or not?

Welcome to DF

Well how do you use your truck DD, offroader, trailer queen? Your looking at 8+ hrs to install a body lift, yes the kit needs certain things extended but that's normal. A suspension lift 3" or more will need lot's of other parts to go with it. What do you want to spend on this project.

Kit should come with the linkage extension for the steering, and the shift linkage will need to be extended. Depending on the tools you have available it's not hard to put on.

The kit looks pretty complete. Comes with front bumper brackets, and the steering extension. Doesn't talk about shift linkage though. Real possibility you can simply adjust that..... Rear bumper brackets are optional. (at additional cost.....)

If I read the install pdf right. But hey what do I know never done one.

C/P from the PDF

A/T shift linkage rod To lengthen the automatic
transmission shift linkage rod, cut it in half and weld the
kit pin between the pieces of the rod as follows: Near the
middle of the rod, scribe a line along the axis (the long
way) of the shift linkage rod. (Later, before welding, this
line will be used to ensure the pieces of the rod are
correctly oriented in relation to each other.) Cut through
the rod across the center of the scribed line. Weld the kit
pin between the pieces of the rod, ensuring the scribed
lines are aligned. Install the rod on the steering column
bracket and the pivot assembly. Adjust the rod so the
PRNDL indicator registers properly.

And there ya have it. Complete kit. Make sure to give yourself two full days for the install. Just to be safe.
