Default Calculated MPG... 10MPG..What to do.

Sooo i decided to calculate my MPG since i bought the truck in august and never had a chance to. My outcome was 9.95 mpg. Now i hauled a pretty big load this week but still pretty bad. I am about to put new spark plug wires and distributor cap and rotor, all ready have the parts just need to find time to do it. But is there any other way of tuning up my car to get better mileage?

Depends on what all is done to your truck.. What size tires? Plenum Fixed? What gears? The normal around here is anywhere between 10-16 mpg... Some claim 20+ but that seems a bit out of reach for most...

Try again when you're not hauling a pretty big load. 10MPG might be okay, depending upon the load you moved, the terrain, wind, and so on.

Hey, I hauled close to 1 ton of pine tree with my truck in a 16ft trailer that weighs 1500lbs, and STILL managed 13mpg.

Then again, the truck was only traveling about 55mph at most.

Well, sure felt like it. lol
Made the trailer springs droop a bit, and it is a decently stout trailer.....lol

It was full too.

Hey now, they were two fairly tall, large pine trees on my Aunts property.

Plenum replacement, PCV valve, timing set, distributor cap/rotor, plug wires, and Copper spark plugs.

Thats a good start, then cat and 02 sensors.
