2.5" is too much? Why, please post facts.

Thanks for clarifying. I've read that link previously, however, I have yet to find a supplier that carries that 2000-2001 Y-pipe in the configuration noted in that link that has the 3" converter outlet. All aftermarket pipes end up with a 2.5" outlet. It would be nice to have the part number of that actual pipe, along with the manufacturer.

if its difficult to find a y pipe with a 3in outlet you could always get an exhaust expander and expand it the extra half inch or you could get an extra piece of pipe from fleet farm that goes from 2.5in - 3in. i think they're like $3-5

^^Seems to be that way. I just checked out Walker's catalogue and indeed it seems to be 2.5" outlet for 00-01. Someone should fix that post...

The only other option is getting a 00-01 Y pipe from a JY (or buying new), and using an adapter such as: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/wlk-41973/overview/ using 2 clamps side by each. See it used here in a vidya: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gw2757T20j0

Yes, I'm aware of being able to do that, however, would still have some restriction of the 2.5" converter outlet - was trying to avoid that by using an actual 3" inlet/3"outlet converter..

Thanks for the thoughts so far folks. I'm aware I can fabricate something, however, I was trying to find an off-the-shelf 3" outlet Y-pipe. Unless someone has an actual part number for this item, looks like the only way it can really be done is at a muffler shop.
