Default Dodge Ram 5.9 Magnum 3" exhaust options?

I'm thinking about upgrading the exhaust system on my '96 Ram 2500 4x4 standard cab long bed truck to a 3" exhaust system from the Y-pipe on back (3" high flow cat and possibly a 3" DynoMax Ultraflo muffler #17233 and a 3" tailpipe). Does anyone know of a Y-pipe that will bolt to the stock exhaust manifolds and come out as 3" to go into a 3" catalytic converter? I'm sure I can have a muffler shop fab it up, however, I'd like to do it with as much bolt-on stuff as possible and keep the fabbing to a minimum. Someone mentioned in another thread that possibly a 2000 Ram 5.2/5.9 had this sort of configuration, however, I've been unable to find exhaust component part numbers for this setup. Any thoughts/help with actual part numbers would be really appreciated.

The 2nd gen Rams had 2.5 in pipe to behind the rear tire. Running 3 in duals would be WAY too much exhaust for a stock Magnum, the MOST you would want to run is 2.5in and even that's pushing it.

Thanks, however, I'm looking to install a single (not duals) 3" exhaust system from the cat thru to the tailpipe. The stock Y-pipe seems to be 2" going into the stock cat and comes out as 2.5". I'd like to have the output of the cat to be 3", followed by a 3" muffler, then 3" tailpipe. Has anyone done this successfully and liked the results?

For example, Dynomax makes a 3" catback system (part #19369, 19370, 19371, depending upon the truck's wheelbase), however, they use a conversion pipe coming off the stock converter to step it up from 2.5" - 3".

Jegs and Summit both carry an "off road" y-pipe that has a three inch outlet. Also has bungs for both O2 sensors. 3 inch single would work pretty well for ya.

I looked at the Jeg's site and the off-road Y-pipe that will connect to a stock exhaust manifold setup that they carry is a 2.5" outlet. I believe that was the same on Summit's site. I did see a Pacesetter model 3" Y-pipe that bolts up to long tube heads, but not factory style manifolds or shorty headers. Also, Dynomax 15476 is really a 2.5 outlet setup, too. I think Jeg's labeled the outlet size for that setup incorrectly as 2.5"/3".

If you see a Y-pipe with a 3" outlet that will connect to stock exhaust manifolds, please let me know the manufacturer and part number. So far, it appears that no one carries an over-the-counter (ready made) 5.2 or 5.9 Magnum Y-pipe that will exit as 3", so that I can use a single 3" inlet/outlet cat.

Get Pacesetter LT's then you have your work cut out for you. why bottleneck the system at the manifolds if you're going all out and wanting a true 3" system? Seems the easiest and most intelligent route from a bolt on standpoint if your heart is dead set on making everything 3".

Sorry, but that is not my intent. I wanted everything from the Y-pipe outlet on back to be 3".

You made it sound as though you wanted a true 3" system from the manifolds down. Get two 2" to 2.5" step-ups, buy this Y-pipe http://www.autoanything.com/exhausts...A2680A0A0.aspx then you're at your desired 3" for a SI/SO cat.

Alternatively, if you can find a DI/SO cat that goes from 2" to 3" you have it made...

Also, check out this link https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...ram-1500s.html . I don't know if a 00-01 factory Y-pipe will fit your truck but it looks like exactly what you want. Maybe someone else can clear that up.

Thanks. I'm aware of Magnaflow Y-pipe #10778 which is dual 2.5" and single 3" outlet. It will work, but must be fabricated. I'm checking to see if the complete Y pipe from the manifolds down is available with a 3" outlet, however, it is looking like no one makes this Y pipe in an off-the shelf configuration.

I guess I wasn't being obvious. I'm trying to tell you that a factory, off the shelf 00-01 Y-pipe has the characteristics you desire according to the link I put above. I'm assuming they are interchangeable in the sense that the routing/mounting is the same but the pipe sizes and inlets to the cat are different....
