Default 1997 Ram 2500 GEN Light on. Explanation?

Hello there!
Last night went into work, came back out 5 hours later and it looks like the brake pedal stuck and left the brake light on for 5 hours which drained my battery. Battery was so dead couldnt start the truck.
I had my mother come with her car to jump the truck. I was Frustrated and made a mistake by mixing up the terminals on her car for the jumping cables. This was only connected like this for less than a minute. We could not get the truck to start what so ever.
I took the battery to auto zone this morning got it fully charged and they stated that there is absolutly nothing wrong with the battery.
I connected it back up to the truck and walahh it started.
There were no lights that came on for 5 minutes on the way home until the GEN light came on. (Only 2 mile drive home)
My volt meter inside the cab is reading 12 Volts as of right now.
Before last night ive had absolutely no problem with battery/alternator what so ever.
Will this GEN light go away after driving it awhile?
And should my Voltage meter go up to 14 after a drive it a little?
Thanks for any input what so ever!
Have a good day.

I always had the GEN light come on when I discharged the battery too low. But that's mine.
Going up to 14 isn't uncommon but it is not usually recommended. lol

So if its running at right around 12 volts its okay? I just thought that it should be at 14 volts. Will the GEN ussualy go off after a while though?

12 volts is just fine. That's what mine sits at, if I run it really hard it will climb towards 14.

You might try disconnecting the battery and turning the headlights on, this will reset the PCM.

Nope.
That would be an issue with the little lead (or whatever it is) switch in that housing. The Jeep guys have a huge issue with it when parking on inclines.

That's the cowl.

If you don't use the light, you could always unplug it.
