In turns, that is perfectly normal for our relatively ancient 4WD systems.

so the noise is only in 4wd?
can you put it up on 4 jack stands and operate it safely. then check the u-joints in the front drive shaft. should be one standard one at the diff, then the double carden thing at the t-case.
