Exhaust help please
Hi all,
new member here, and I need some info regarding the stock exhaust system on my 1998 V10 Ram 2500. My problem is that I failed an emission test the other day, I currently have a Magnaflow exhaust fitted from the Y pipe and back. I managed to find a catalytic converter from Magnaflow which I'm gonna fit prior to my new test. Now....back to my question; how many oxygen sensors where fitted to the stock exhaust? And where were they located? There is a hole in the new catalytic converter which I assume is for a oxygen sensor of sorts, just need to find a connector for it somewhere.
Just to mention I only had the car for 2 months and have very little knowledge about these cars.
Thanks
Regards Zakk

I had varying results doing a search on how many yours is supposed to have, sounded like 1 each side pre-cat and one after cat so your going to have to snake belly under the truck and look for pigtails that are hanging or tied up under the frame. I would hope the previous owner would not have cut them off. Don't forget the gasket and some never seize on the sensor threads when you install them. Good luck.

I do believe, if your truck has Federal Emissions (not california) you should have two. One pre-cat, one post-cat. Pigtails come down off the trans. One is right up on top of it, and a bear to get to....

Did you not know the exhaust was butchered on the truck before you bought it? Always, ALWAYS check emission stuff when buying a used car, especially if you live where they require emissions inspections.
Nice looking ride.
My 01 v10 with federal emissions has 2 identical cats side by side just in front of the muffler. One for the right head and the other for the left head. A single air line runs from the air pump on the lower right side of the motor and splits in two just before the cats. 1 line into each. I have 2 O2 sensors pre-cat, no post cat sensors. There is a very short y pipe that joins the rear of the cats into a single inlet on the muffler.
I'm nearly positive my friends 98 v10 was the same.
Hope this helps.
