Default Fuel level sending unit

So I just finished some testing because my fuel gauge always reads full and I have found my fuel level sending unit has stopped working. Is it possible to replace just the sending unit or do I have to replace the entire pump module?

I did some looking around and had very little luck finding just the sending unit although it is only 2 screws and a connector to replace.

I don't think you can get just the sending unit..... if your pump is fairly old, might just as well replace it.....

+1, in these trucks, the fuel level gauge is sold together with the fuel pump and can usually not be found separately (atleast from a parts store like advance). Unfortunately, the whole assembly is gonna run you like 200 bucks. My gauge reads a quarter tank high all the time and i just said screw it i'll deal with it til the pump goes out lol

have you tried filling the tank with fuel? i don't think it staying on full is a bad thing. it just sounds like it might be stuck. have you tried unplugging the fuel pump/sending unit? i can't say for sure but i would guess if you unplug the sending unit/pump that the gauge should drop to empty. if not you may have an electrical problem.

Ive filled the tank about 5 times since the gauge quit reading. Today I followed the diagnostic procedures for inoperative fuel gauge. And I disconnected the plug on top of the fuel tank and the gauge dropped down to E. then I checked the voltage and ground. Everything was good. Procedure then said replace fuel level sending unit so I think it just took a crap. It has been in the truck for over 220k.

to me it sounds like the thing might just be stuck. i would see about trying to get it unstuck. maybe try giving it a tap or 2 with your foot or maybe drive down some bumpy dirt roads to bounce things around.
