Axle Gearing
No I am running 4.10's right now.. They go good with my 33's and worked fine for when I had 35's.. I will probably switch to 4.56's though cause I plan on doing 35's and I tow something almost regularly during the summer time so the 4.56's will fit me best.
A boat on a regular basis which is about 3k without supplies.. Also haul a trailer loaded down with atvs and gear and people weighed out right around 5k.. Nothing to serious and the 4.10s did ok with it.. 4.56 would make it all much easier.. Most I hauled with my 4.10's was my buddies ez dump dual axle trailer filled to with dirt... Weighed in at right over 9k... Was really wishing I had 4.56's
The gearing just makes it easier to get the load going less stressful on everything else... Automatics is a big issue with that.. You are swapping trans so I feel the 4.56's along with the nv4500 would be darn near perfect.. As long as you have the suspension set up to haul that kind of weight you will be happy.. I hauled hay once with my truck only because we couldnt find the key to the 3rd cummins we normally use..
Well gotta be careful how low gearing I get cause Redline is 4500RPM... And the NV4500 is already geared low... So I am doing some research on that. So bodywork prolly comes first then Dana 70's or 80's for the rear and 66 for the front. And 8-bolt rims.
Yeah we tow 15K with a 1/2 ton. Seriously. This year gonna push that to about 18K. This truck has alot of upgraded parts already. And yes the 3500 Dually is on the way later this year. But you'd be surprised at how well this truck handles it. Say, since you're in MI why not take a vacation during hay day to witness it with your own eyes? We'll pay you to do it too
