Default tranny trouble

okay so hears whats happening. truck shifted fine and seemed normal but sometimes it would surge when going up hills at low speed or when cold then boom one night out of the blue it starts hanging first and second have to let off for the upshift or it would just keep climbing. then the next day i started taking off on a hill and it acted as if it was slipping or maybe it was starting in second. idk what to do i was just about to have the bands adjusted and im hoping this is just a bad gov solonoid. anyinput would help.
other questions.
1 would it be smart to rebuild my tranny(most things i have read about revbuilds say they dont last long.
2 how good are jasper reman trannys
3 5 speed swap good idea?
4 should i just get a oem new one from mopar
5 what am i looking at on price rebuild vs reman vs junkyard.
truck has already had new filter new fluid checkvalve removed and cooler added all at 100k when i acuired it. now im exsperencing these problems at 110k. help please

Drop the pan again, and have a look at the governor solenoid. Sounds like its clogging up. If it is, replace it.... you can clean it, and it will last while you wait for your new heavy duty Borg Warner Governor solenoid, and pressure sensor......

Rebuilds can run anywhere from 1000, to 3000, or more.... depending on what you have done.

Junkyard tranny ONLY in a pinch.

Never buy one from the dealer. You will pay out the nose, and still have the same basic problems. (weak trans, and torque converter)

look at the sticky threads at the top for DIY, and in those look for MonteC's transmission thread. its a long one...

His advice was generally the same - clean and/or replace the governor pressure sensor and solenoid (which controls the hydraulic shifts). it will generally fix the problem for either a long time (your lucky day), or a short time (not your lucky day) which means the inside of your trans is all used up, and its time to go see the man.

a properly rebuilt trans will last a lifetime, as quality replacement parts including the sonnax kits, if used, will correct all the original problems. Its all about putting the right parts in it, and knowing what you're doing. (i don't, that's why i went to the man who does).

+1 that a junkyard trans is the likely same original POS that you have in your truck. it may or may not last.
