Is anyone going to suggest plugging ascanner in and reading codes? Or are just going to wait until he throws $300 in parts at it?

So my buddy replaced a valve and brakes line running across the diff and the sensor and the abs and brakes lights went off. The Check engine light was off and now it just came back on. My guess for that is either evap hose or canister leak, or purge solenoid I've never fiddled with either is there a diagram or a video anyone knows of that walk me through testing them and or replacing them.

Thanks

If you are getting codes for Evap leaks, just start back at the cannister, and check ALL the hoses.

What year is your truck?

I'm sorry for asking this, on 1997 is the evap cannister next to battery. Is it easy to find?

Here is a pic, I think this is the cannister none of the hoses seem bad or cracked.

Yep, that's it. Was there any charcoal in the lines? (indicates bad cannister) Follow the lines all the way, end to end, make sure there aren't any bad spots.

Yes the canister is toast but the lines all along the truck look fine. Only one problem left where do I find a evap canister and purge solenoid that's not over 400 bucks, since none of the autoparts stores seem to carry them (Evap canister) and I dont want to get stuck paying to much at the dealership?
