Smile gutted cat too thin and tinny

I used to have a dodge dakota with a 318, duals, and flowmaster muffler and it was the most ideal sound I've ever wanted in truck.
I now have the 360 and it's got a gutted cat, duals from the muffler back and it sounds to thin and tinny for me. What do you guys recommend for a beefier sound. I do not like a lot of crackle when i open it up. I just like the rumble.
I know with a longer truck (8ft bed) I probably won't feel the exhaust like I would on the dakota but I don't feel the exhaust nearly enough under the seat and it sounds real tinny but that thin exhaust sound seems to come more from around the headers. it almost sounds sort of hollow. What the least expensive way to give it more thunder?

Replace the hollowed out cat with a pipe, get a different muffler.
