Default Torque converter not locking?

Ok so the other night I was driving home and the truck just didn't feel right, and I noticed my rpms higher than normal. I stopped and cut the od switch off and took off and counted the shifts and didn't notice the tcc lockup. I stopped again cut it back on then off again, took off again and then it locked up, cut the switch on again and all was good. Now this morning on the way to drop the kid off at school all was good, on my way back it again wouldn't lock up. Nothing I could do would make it lock. I pulled out the trusty sct and I'm getting a p0734 which appears to be a 4th gear ratio incorrect or something. The trans is rebuilt with maybe 10k on it and I doubt it's that high honestly. I'm fixing to go the the dr and Im gonna clear the code and see what it does now. I'll report back and any help would be great.

If you had other codes like, P0720, P0715 and fault after shift codes. I would say sensor, But if you are just getting gear rario error in 4th, The plate on the side of the valve body may have snap off some screws and the plate is bending. How is the fluid condition?

P0734 Gear 4 Incorrect Ratio

Well then, that is certainly odd. Not like your trans can change the gear ratio....

Have a look here.

I do have 4.88's and haven't changed my speed sensor on the transfer case and my speedo is way off lol, but that doesn't change rpms. I'll go check the fluid when I leave and report back.

Well the tcc still isn't locking, the fluid is bright red and is full, it may be just a hair over but it's full. I also noticed I used to have a slight wine at highway ish speeds. I don't seem to notice that anymore so that's not good. My next day off I think I'm gonna bite the bullet and drop the pan and see what's hiding in there.

I think something is indeed going awry buddy. Slipping clutch plates comes to mind.

Sounds like a good idea.

Some debris on the magnet is normal, lots of metal isn't.

The OP in the link I provided took it to a shop I'd guess, and was in for a rebuild...

Mine was rebuilt less than 10k ago with a tad stronger than factory set up by a very reputable shop. I don't know what it could be but hopefully it's something I can fix. I dropped the vb in my Grand Cherokee which is basically the same so I'm no stranger but it's cold and I don't really wanna have to lol. What's throwing me off is it shifts good and crisp the damn TC just won't lockup.

If it's still under the warranty from the rebuild, go see them.

I wish it was, but it's been 2 years and the warranty was only a year. I thought I stopped hearing the whine but it's still there so I may drop the pan Thursday. This plate that was brought up that's on the vb. Is that something I can fix?
