Default Front Cab Mounts

Here is the current shape of my cab mounts.....eventually in the future I plan to get around to it wether its repairing this or swapping the whole cab its just a work truck and general beater...you guys think it is ok to keep it going or does it need to be fixed ASAP? fixable by a good welding shop or is it FUBAR and I need a new cab?

Take it to a body shop and get an estimate. Chances are, the cost of repair will be more than the cost of swapping the cab.....

I don't think you are in any danger of your cab flying off in a corner.... if that is your concern.

The cab is a big hunk of heavy steel. Gonna have to get creative to get the old one off, and the new one on. (five friends would prolly be adequate to the task.)

Changing out all the interior stuff is the fun part, also the most time consuming. Figger several days at least. (the new cab will prolly come completely empty.....)

Weirdly, this is the only place that wasn't undercoated on my truck when the PO had it... and as a result its similar to yours. My near future plan of attack is to buzz down the rust and do a bunch of layers of fiberglass cloth and resin.

Wow...is that the condition on ALL your cab mounts?

Agreed with HeyYou, there is quite a bit keeping the cab on there. Definitely get a bodyshop to quote it out, a couple really.

You have any fab ability/interest?

Thanks for the input guys, there are good benefits to being an auto tech for a living, before anyone jumps on me for asking what you think about the cab mounts when I'm a "professional" technician, if you are a tech that is afraid to ask someone else's opinion...you won't get very far in this career, trust me. Im not a state inspector so idk the code on that. Good buddy of mine is a welder and is charging me a few 30 packs to make me up some mounts and weld on so I'm good to go

I have one that just starting to go, Dodge is nla for that part, I would check with some after market body parts suppliers. Me I have a auto wrecker that is going to cut me one (with the floor part) out there pos trucks for $50. then it's all prep and welding.
