Default Front Drive Shaft extreme squeeking

ok my front driveshaft while im driving is spinning and squeeking VERY VERY loud, its a continuous squeek, doesnt change with speed, just spins out of control and squeeks. This is in 2wd. Its done it before, but now it wont come out of it unless i lock it in 4wd.

u-joint at the diff is new, but the ones on xfer case end i think are original, they have grease fittings and have been greased and front diff and xfer case are full of newer fluid.

anyone have an idea? im already sick of my truck last thing i want to hear right now is my pinion bearing in the front diff is gone....So hopefully someone has better news for me.

Shaft shouldn't be turning in 2wd... unless you have a LSD, or locker in the front. Sounds like the cad is not disengaging.

If it was related to the driveline though, it should change with speed....

my shaft spins in 2wd and i have open diffs.....but 4x4 works great, never had a problem, i know its not in 4wd.

you think its the CAD itself, or possibly a small puncture in the lines?

I would check vacuum first..... that's easiest. It may be coming out enough to turn off the light, but, apparently, the axles are still locked together....

to test that the cad is stuck in the engaged position when in 2wd, jack up the passenger side front wheel only and try to spin it. if it won't spin, the cad is engaged.

Ive got a squeak almost like yours, but varies with speed. Turns out to be my front diff pinion bearing wore out. I can jiggle the front drive shaft a little.. A good excuse to regear though!

and she still has power lol....i was mad at her the other day when my door latch broke again, so i gave her some punishment........got stuck in the snow in 2wd driving into a snowbank, and i sat there will my foot to the floor and she was bouncing of the rev limiter....didnt like me to much for it, and i probably used 3 gallons of gas doing it, but she deserved a good beating....still runs good lol
