Default plenum and sensors bad

Well I hate it when people are right but I take it as a learning experience. My plenum gasket was bad and a coolant temp sensor was broke on the intake but out was still hooked up. Oh well I guess. Only thing is I don't hsve the aluminum fix kit just a gasket for it. How long would the gasket last in there if done right. Cause whoever did it last used regular ol silicon sealant and not rtv they even used it on the intake manifold gaskets themselves which is stupid but I'm doing what was recommended by people on here who have a vast knowledge of dodges then me and putting new temp sensors o2 sensors and plugs and wires. Guess I should have listened yhe first time on it. But thanks for the info guys.

Get some shorter bolts for the plenum pan, or, cut the little nubs off the end.... should last a while.

If you have the scratch, certainly wouldn't hurt to do water pump, and timing chain/gears as well. You are going to be RIGHT there.....

If I were you,Id just save up $100 bucks and buy the hughes kit or buy the ebay one for half the price and do it right the first time. After doing all the work and the possibility of having to do it again if for some reason the new gasket alone didnt work wouldnt be worth it to me.I agree with heyyou also,if you can do timing chain and gasket also it would be good.

I need to do the front cover seal next and ill do the chain then. And water pump is newer. But I did all that got in a rush and left the engine ground off and the belt. I was cursing the truck. Then I realized what I did now she starts good but still runs rich for some reason

And as far as plenum goes I'm saving for an aftermarket intake and stuff for my truck to get rid of that annoyance forever. And a cam also. Next time I need to reseal my valve covers and do valve seals on it when I'm in it

Well I think this engine has been rebuilt once cause the gaskets I took off were nicer felpro ones. Plenum was a factory style black and I could take out about 5 pic the plenum bolts by hand

Try stepping on the gas a bit while you crank.
