Default Door Latch...

So, tore apart the inside of my drivers door to sort out my door latch (the lock) issue. Sprayed some lube in there, still no joy. Seized up. I realized after searching here that the parts aren't carried at aftermarket parts stores, so I called good ole'Dodge here in Fredericton, NB (That's Canada for those trackin').

$285!! There is NO WAY in HELL I am going to pay that much for a door latch. That is bloody robbery.

With luck, I'll find a US dealership that is willing to mail it (even to Houlton as I can cross and pick it up). But wow... more of a RANT that they would charge so much up here! Probably HALF the price in the US.

Thanks for all the feedback. No luck at the local junkyard - Merc, may take you up on it.

As for the lock, it can manually go up and down. It just sort of... budges a LITTLE when I use the electrical button. I've moved it plenty by hand, doesn't feel like there is really any resistance at all. That being said, I've also lubed it up. So... thinking maybe the motor is pooched, but not entirely sure. Got a little too cold to keep playing with it.

I will send you a pm later with there info lol and you can most likely just have them send it straight to you. The elec door lock motor's are touchy in the winter, I think I have changed out two over the years.

Electrical lock is a solenoid. Maybe remove it and use electrcial cleaner. Then spray with dry silicone spray. This was an issue when i was selling used cars and trucks in Arizona a number of years ago due to the dust and dirt on the Reservations. Continual cold conditiins could cause similar symptoms I would think. Solenoid is not very strong.
