For auto tranny maintenance that you can do, is simple fluid and filter change. If you do the oil change on the tranny yourself install a drain plug in the pan to make your life ezer the next time. For adjusting of the bands I use the dealer that way if anything goes wrong it's on there shoulders, not my pocket book.

Never a dumb *** for asking a good question!
A good tune-up will include
Distributor Cap, rotor button, spark plug wire's/leads, good spark-plugs, oil change, oil filter, air filter. Me I would just add the sea-foam to the gas let it do it's thing that way or/and add some to the oil before you do the oil change. For these parts I prefer just good old Mopar parts from the dealer, they will be close to most stores for prices on this little stuff.
As spring and summer is on it's way and you don't drive the truck too much in that season stick to your tire size for now and over the summer keep your eye's open for a used set of gears, there is nothing wrong going used as long as they are in good shape. then save some cash for the install of said gears, even talk to some schools mech shop and see if they can help you with the install so the class can learn.
I don't like to recommend to people to pour anything down the intake unless you have done so before, it could be a disaster waiting to happen.

And let's not forget the PCV valve as well. I would get that from the dealer regardless, theirs actually have the correct flow rate.

now that i know what goes into a tune up will work on that again in march. spring break is when i plan on doing alot of my work including the plenum, tune up and such
and if you look closely i have the hubcaps from an 01 on the wheels of a 96. I think it looks pretty cool actually. if you look closely thugh in the farm picture the back wheels still dont have them but the fronts do. I was to lazy to finish them that day
