Painting rocker panels
As like everyone else my rocker panels are slowly rusting away and I'm planning to redo them, currently I have the silver trim on them. I plan to make it nice like new again, and want some suggestions. I'm going to start off by wire-wheeling/sanding off all of the paint, and then applying POR-15 on the really bad rust areas. Now this is the part I'm getting confused as to whether I should just do some type of bedliner or paint it. I prefer it the panels to be black, to compliment my red truck. I contemplated going to the cheap way and doing like 6 coats of some good ol' rustoleum, but am not sure if there is a better or more specified product, to help stay on budget. Thanks, Dean.

Buy some gravel guard, works great for undercoating as well. 3 or 4 cans should cover all the rockers. I used the in the back of my XJ, turned out well and, it get covered with paint very easily.
If it's just minor surface rust, then grinding it down or treating it would be ok.
You could also try the Dupli-colour bed liner. I heard that stuff is really good and plan to do my box with it this summer. Not too expensive either. I think the whole kit cost's around $180 and it's enough to do the whole box and then some.

Use short strand fiberglass for the big holes then finish with bondo. Using bedliner will allow you to not get so fussy and touch ups will be easier. If you're going to do this, you should take the 3 rubber plugs out behind the rockers and spray a ton of undercoating in there to prevent this from ever happening again.

Also known as "The Correct Way."
I thought about rhino lining, but I've heard that stuff is exspensive, and I'm trying to stay on somewhat of a budget, and its not bad enough to the point where I have to put new metal. Even If I did I have to repaint it with something and I'm not sure of what material to use.
Worried about cost? Then just rattle can it with rustoleum and call it done....
