Update: I found a transmission supposedly rebuilt 20k ago, but it's off a Cummins powered Ram. Does the flange face of a Cummins match that of a V-10? Also are the transmissions built the same or will there be compatibility issues?

Trans will bolt right up, I would replace the torque converter though...... also, bear in mind there were wiring changes a couple times over the course of years.. easy fix though. What year is the trans donor, and what year is your V-10 and wire harness?

V-10 is from a 1996, the transmission is from a 1997

I found this pic on craigslist of a 24 valve cummins:

It looks a lot different than my V-10 or V-8's.

There is a piece missing from the back of der diesel..... prolly some variety of mounting plate goes on first, as there is NO room even for a flywheel the way that bolt pattern is. Might be a different application other than dodge truck?

V-10 and diesel are supposed to use the same bolt pattern for the bellhousing.

Trans and PCM and wiring harness should match right up then. Good Deal.

Okay, so I'm going through Advance Auto Parts Salvage (available through any of their stores) cuz their transmissions come with a one year unlimited mile warranty as opposed to gambling with craigslist, and it literally $1000 less than buying a reman. Plus, because it's salvage, there's no core needed.

Anyway, the 47-RE came available with a PTO and without. For $100.00 more I can get the PTO equipped tranny. I like that idea, I can run a generator off it for reliable high amperage 120/240 power. My question: Has anybody ever dealt with a PTO on their Dodge? How do they engage or disengage? How do they work? Again, any info is always greatly appreciated!

That Cummins is missing the adapter plate. That's why it looks wrong.

About the transmission output shafts: you have no need to worry. All the automatics (46-47rX's) used 23 spline output shafts. Your transfer case will bolt up without issue.

I was aware that it was an option, but, had no idea it could bolt to the trans as well. Although, I suppose that does make sense.... given that they came in 2wd trucks as well. Not a lot of information out there on 'em.

Hmm, maybe I'll just stick with the one without it.
