Same thing happened to a coworker with a 1500 Ram now that I think about it. It was the TPS. Seems to be common.

Drivers side of the throttle body, three wire electrical connector, and two torx bit screws. Disconnect battery, take off old one, put on new one, reconnect battery. Drive. Shouldn't take more than about ten minutes.

After searching aroud the site a little ... it seems like the TPS has more to do with a rough idle... but my truck is idleing fine.

Does a faulty TPs create more than one particular symptom?

900.00 sounds like half a rebuild and as mentioned ,220.00 to change fluid and filter ain't right either, unless they cleaned things up and adjusted bands. Around here your looking at 1600.00 to 1800.00 for a complete rebuild. Hate to say it but if you want it right ,you might have to pay someone else to finish the job. Maybe it's something simple. A good shop should be able to hook up their scanner, drive, diagnose and fix, instead of all this guessing. Good luck.

When the Durango TPS crapped out on me, we were on the highway heading to Cedar Point with the kids. It started by messing with the lock up in the converter (I could see it on the tach and feel it in the seat), and after a short bit drooped the trans into 2nd gear ... at 75mph!! I jumped off at the first exit and from there had the same symptoms as you. Found an Oreilly Auto Parts, swapped in a new TPS on a whim, and drove 2 more years trouble free. May or may not apply to your problem.
