Yeah i get that a lot. Haha I do want a Cummins one day but that day is not very near haha.

Still looking for confirmation that the 8.5 swap will fit on a 1500, if anyone knows or has any kind of idea.

It should work, but the correct question should probably be, "how much facrication would be required?"

So.....go for it and start a DIY thread!

Just want to point out that T-link and crossover steering are two different things.

If you don't have means of fabrication, stick with the 1500 setup, but upgrade as HeyYou had mentioned (The stabilizing bracket kit DOES help and is a bolt-on kit) but if buying parts-store parts,I'd recommend Moog, and keep your receipts. Moog products use impact grade steel and are built heavier than factory. They also carry a lifetime warranty.

I put on the 1-ton hard components from same model year, AGR pump, Red Head box, and Borgeson intermediate shaft. It all bolts in fine. The 1-ton does change the design of the links.

You used the crossover from the new 08+ trucks?

Or a second gens 1-ton? That requires a lot of fab for a 2001

Since no one really knows if the crossover will fit a 1500 I guess Ill go with just replacing parts with better quality parts, like Moog. Apparently its the best option, but geez its a little pricey. But I guess steering isn't really the place to skimp out on uh?

I guess ill need all four of these tie rods?

And the track bar

And the dodge offroad brace, I never thought that the frame would flex on the shaft but thinking about it does. This one doesnt do that though, guess thats why its commonly recommended?

All of that is about 800 bucks. whoa!!!

Is Moog stuff really worth the price? Ive never had experience with steering components so i just don't know.

Also I assume I need all the new bushings and stuff but that confuses me too.

Would I likely need a pitman arm?

And can I have some advice on what to look for when I check my current steering components before I go replacing everything ***** nilly?

If you really like your truck and want to keep it a long time get Thurenfab's crossover setup for 2nd gens and a Dodge Off Road track bar. I doubt you will be complaining then. Top it off with a redhead or borgeson box and DOR's steering shaft stabilizer and you'll be set.

i replaced my steering stuff with 1 ton stuff a couple years ago. i used 98-99 1 ton stuff. it worked on my 99 1500 and swapped right over when i did the d60 swap. i never looked into the new 09+ stuff. when i bought my 98-99 1 ton steering parts it cost me $180 shipped. and i replaced my track bar with the XRF adjustable bar for $120 shipped. the xrf bar is alot beefier than the stock bar.

stock track bar vs XRF track bar
